Owners and buyers do not always say which TH50C they mean, and some of the 2023 footage is probably the first version, but they talk about the scope the same way throughout. It is a 3.5x 640 for coyote hunters who shoot across fields, often bought in the $3,500 to $4,500 range against the Pulsar Thermion 2 XP50 and XG50 and iRay's own Rico line. People recommending it call it a solid, amazing optic. One owner who has iRay, AGM and Pulsar scopes says iRay has the best picture and the finest zoom steps.

The caveats are about size and base magnification. Buyers whose shots are mostly 40 to 200 yards worry that 3.5x is too narrow, and owners suggest the 2x XP50 for them. One owner wanted to trade his TH50C for a lighter Rico because his rifle was already heavy. In 2025 one owner was selling a lightly used V2 for $3,500 with about three and a half years of warranty left.

What owners like

The zoom is smooth: an owner showed footage of fluid magnification changes, and a TL35 owner noted his steps in choppier 0.3x increments by comparison.
Owners of several brands rate iRay's picture the best of the lot, and say a TH50C clip uploaded to video looks worse than the view through the scope.
The battery is removable and rechargeable, which owners count in its favour against the Thermion when choosing between the two.
The iRay app's Bluetooth live view lets you watch the scope on a phone; one owner used it to scan from the rifle with his eye that was not behind the night-vision tube.

Common complaints

The 3.5x base magnification makes it a field scope; buyers whose shots are inside 200 yards are pointed to 2x scopes such as the XP50 for the wider field of view.
It is big and heavy on an already heavy rifle; one owner wanted to trade it, his KAC mount and a separate rangefinder for a lighter Rico.

Bolt TH50C V2 or Thermion 2 XG50?
